What is the difference between Medicare and Medicaid?
Most states have Medicaid programs with different requirements that allow a person to access those benefits. Medicaid is based on need and is generally provided to people of low income or to those with certain disabilities. With Medicaid, there are no monthly premiums. Medicare is generally based on age. However, a patient can qualify for Medicare prior to the age of 65 if they have certain long-term disabilities. We suggest contacting your local state Medicaid office for specifics related to your state. CCS Medical is pleased that we are able to accept patients that need service for many of the state Medicaid programs.
If you have questions about Medicaid (to find out if you qualify or to sign up), you can call your State Medical Assistance office for more information. Visit www.medicare.gov on the web. Under “Search Tools,” select “Find Helpful Phone Numbers and Websites,” or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) to get the telephone number of your State Medical Assistance (Medicaid) office. TTY users should call 1-877-486-2048.
